From sources results that the primitive church of the village of Miroglio was St. Graziano, at the castle, still active in 1440. Later, it became parish an ecclesia de Montonaria listed in the estimi of 1298 of the diocese of Vercelli and dedicated to St. Michael. But already in 1577, the parish church of St. Michael is described as "old" and is mentioned next to the parish church of St. Mary. In 1725 works were started, funded in part by the population and the parish priest Don Pagliano, to build, on the site of the former parish church demolished in the same year in Villamiroglio, the Parish Church of SS Philip and Michael. This dedication, in place of St. Mary was chosen to join the cult of St. Michael, which is the naming of the old parish church, and the church of St. Philip in Mezzalfenga, although St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows is still considered a co-patron. The church was completed in 1764 and consecrated in 1768. The bell tower was begun in 1816 and completed in 1823, while in 1870 was built the marble floor. Recently have been restored facade, floor and altar, between 2005 and 2006 have been carried out other works, with roof restoration and consolidation of the outer walls, and the frescoes in 2012. Building on a central plan, oriented, brick view. Beautiful late Baroque façade of two orders, pilasters with Ionic capitals, curved gable and slight concavity of the sides. On a curved connecting wall to the right of the facade is inserted a fragment stone carved depicting a bird (probably a dove) on a branch with a grape and a fruit within a square frame constituted by a triple wicker ribbon, which reproduces the "chained" tiles to be found in the pluteus of parapets of the IX century, typical of the Lombard culture. On the right side are the remains of a sundial with perpendicular gnomon. Inside a central plan with a single nave. Significant main altar in polychrome marble and the elegant marble balustrade (second half XVIII cent.). There are also two side altars of stucco painted faux marble (end of XVIII - early XIX century). Due the architectural lines, the Church is attributed by some experts to Magnocavalli or its school.
Ancient church near the cemetery of Villamiroglio. An
Ecclesia de Montonaria (or Montenario) is listed in the
1298-99 estimi of the diocese of Vercelli, Parish of
Gabiano. It became parish in sec. XV, after the moving
of the inhabited town; was defined old parish already in
1577. Major renovations in 2005.
Building of a decent size, with a Baroque façade with
two rows and triangular pediment; made of a mixture of
brick and sandstone; some stones are reused. In a pillar
of the rear wall is inserted a block of granite which
seems a capital recovery. It is still used on the feast
of the patron and during the winter or for other
functions or events.
In the Case Alemanno township. Originally it was
probably the site of a nunnery. The church may have been
in some way connected, such as a chapel or place of
worship for those involved in garrisons, to the
fortifications of the Counts Miroglio. In a pastoral
visit in 1619 was described as a church not too big "with
an altar adorned et condecentemente only provided
vestments necessary" where every day were celebrated
votive masses. The oratory was extended later in the
century XVII with the construction of the side altar
dedicated to St. Aloysius Gonzaga, and close to the side
facing north, "a porch with regard to whom there is a
cottage with two bedrooms on the floor and two upstairs
and there wont live a hermit although hora - as stated
in the pastoral visit made by Msgr. Lelio Ardizzone in
1685 - it will not be anyone, et below is the cellar".
The church underwent several renovations that probably
led to the disappearance of the adjacent cemetery.
The church of St. Liberata, despite the tampering
occurred over the years and the bad maintenance,
exacerbated by a number of thefts (paintings, statues,
columns, chandeliers, door, gate ...) and vandalism, has
kept with recent works on the 2007 the marks of an
important historical, artistic and religious past. Now
it looks like a decent sized building, with
nineteenth-century facade punctuated by four pilasters
in two rows, ending with a gable that extend the two
pilasters; a small central door and three rectangular
windows. On the left side is the porch; in the rear a
nice bell tower. On either side of the main altar are
visible XVIIcentury frescoes. In 1997 was made by F.
Monino the statue of St. Liberata with two infants in
swaddling clothes, replacing the previous stolen; to her
turned into prayer pregnant women. In spring 2009,
during works to restore interior of the church where the
sides of the main altar, came to light frescoes of the
'500 -' 6000.
To the southeast of Villamiroglio in the township Rairolo, reachable by Varengo. Since 1944, was the headquarter of the command of the Autonomous Partisan Brigade Patria. Although home of feeled celebrations in honor of the saint, as still remembered by the elders of the town, was long time ago abandoned. The property of the church and the adjacent accommodation facility were purchased by a private individual, who has started renovation. The work currently are stopepd and the site is again in a state of neglect. Front side high and narrow with arched pediment; it states the date "1715". Slim bell tower.
In Vallegioliti, in the center of town. It was built in the years 1819-20 "for expense" of the local population and consecrated in 1823. The vault was painted in 1866 by famous artist Paolo Maggi. In 1866 they were also carried out other painted decorations. Major renovations in 2005 (roof, bell tower, consolidation of the structure) and in 2008 (re-plastering, restoration and painting of the baptistery altar, electrical, lighting and heating works). Other external works on 2016. With neoclassical style, Latin cross plan. In front stand four pilasters on high plinth supporting the triangular pediment.
On the way to Vallegioliti at the intersection for Molino del Conte. This building has probably quite ancient origins, perhaps in seventeenth century, is now a private deconsecrated church of considerable size, now abandoned. In the past, the day of the festive occasion (August 5) were held religious celebrations and popular fair, with great interest, until 1722, when the celebration was moved to the Friday of Holy Week and turned on the feast of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, as at that time it uses to start "noises and murders." At the end of '700, there lived a hermit monk from the town.
It's located in the woods in the township of Mezzalfenga.
It was listed in the tithes of Vercelli only in 1298-99,
at the same time of the parishes of Gabiano and
Cortiglione. The current building was built in 1745 (the
date is specified by a plaque inside). It's located next
to the small cemetery of the village. According to
legend (perhaps recovery from the stories of St. Eldrado
to Novalesa), at the church in Cà 'd Ruman there was a
miraculous source of oily water. It suffered several
thefts over the years; in early September 1998 were
stolen all the vessels remaining: votive candles,
vestments and altar paintings, nineteenth-century
papier-mache statue of St. Philip with the throne (work
of artisans of Verolengo) a statue of Our Lady, an old
kneeler, a wooden table and a bell outside.
Elegant baroque facade restored in the eighties of the
century. XX. On the front is still present a metal frame
used to hold up a sheet of fabric arranged on the
occasion of important religious functions. The bowl
vault is painted with a troemp l'oeil balcony that opens
to a bright sky with the SS. Trinity of Angels in
flight. Altar of fine workmanship. On the left is a
niche in which was placed the statue of St. Philip, and
on the bottom there are two more niches for statues of
St. Augustine and St. Expedite, also stolen. A small
door located at the side of the altar leads to the
sacristy; this will take you down two steps into a small
room that houses a fireplace, while climbing a ladder
you get drawn in two small rooms in the attic. It is use
to celebrate a Holy Mass, a procession and a cakes
auction on May Day.
Situated on a hill between the village of Mezzalfenga and the road to St. Anthony, reached by a steep climb dirt road from Via Piglie. Small votive chapel, plastered; with a small altar, which is currently in a state of neglect. It contains a niche with a plaster statue of St. Peter Martyr, heavily damaged by neglect, now translated into the parish of Vallegioliti after a massive restoration by Villamiroglio in Foto.
